Here is the email you should have received from Office 365.  See bottom of this page for all of the attachments.

Your campus will begin finalization today (Tues 8/5) between noon and 1pm. The finalization process could take several hours.

Welcome to Office 365!

Your mailbox is currently in the finalization process. What this means is that the server is doing a final synchronization of your email to Office 365 and updating all the necessary settings. As soon as this process is done, your Outlook client (Windows machines only) will send you a prompt saying that you need to restart Outlook to continue. On the Mac Mail Client, it will simply quit working (you may get notification that your connection has been disconnected).
Important notes:
  • Your email address will NOT change.
  • Any time you log into an Office 365 application/service, you will need to use the format: yourlogin@gpisd.org.  For example, if your name is Ava Henrich and when you log into your computer you use AHenrich, then your Office365 login is AHenrich@gpisd.org (your email remains the same, Ava.Henrich@gpisd.org).
  • Please see the attached documents for instructions on updating all of your devices.
  • If your computer is still running Windows XP, you will not be able to use the new Office 365 software, however you will still be able to use Office 2007 for your email and documents. Your mailbox will still be migrated, you just will not be able to upgrade to the latest software. You will be able to use all of the web-based applications in the portal. Windows XP and Office 2007 must both be updated to the latest versions in order to work correctly. Contact the helpdesk if you have issues or concerns with this.

Here's what you get with Office 365.
Outlook Email in the cloud … secure and accessible anywhere you are with an internet connection. Use your Outlook client or web browser to connect.

OneDrive for Business … this is replacing your H drive. You have 25GB of space in OneDrive. Your data will be accessible by you at any time as long as you have an internet connection. There are also some built in sharing capabilities. You will receive instructions for moving your data in the near future.

Lync … this is replacing Communicator. You will need to remove any old versions of communicator on your computer for Lync to work. Lync gives you the ability to have online conference calls, meetings, white boarding and sharing apps/slides.

Office 365 Pro Plus software … you have 5 licenses to install. Technology will only support installations on GPISD issued devices. Software is available for iPad/iPhone, Android phones, Windows tablets, Windows computers, and Mac computers. Android tablets do not currently have software available, but that is coming soon. Not all apps are available on all platforms.

You can go ahead and start looking around in your portal at office.gpisd.org … this is where you can download software as well as get to the web versions of your OneDrive, Office, Lync, and Outlook. If you get an error message stating that Outlook is not available, then that means that your mailbox has not finalized yet. Please be patient.

The finalization process could take several hours, you can continue using email until Outlook tells you to restart. We will be monitoring the entire process and will get with you if there are issues.
If you have any issues or need assistance during the migration, please contact the helpdesk at 972-237-5413 or submit a work order http://servicedesk.gpisd.org/
