OneDrive Download for Mac

Please see the email below for information about OneDrive for the Macs.  I have downloaded it and it seems to be working okay so far.  I was able to directly copy and paste items from my Mac into my One Drive.  I am able to see those files from the OneDrive app on the iPad as well the web version of Office 365 (from OneDrive, of course).  I haven’t downloaded the app on my phone yet.

Notes from what Kyla and I have noticed so far…
IMPORTANT #1- You must be running OS Mavericks (10.9) or Yosemite (10.10) in order to be able to download OneDrive for Mac.  You can NOT be running OS Mountain Lion (10.8).  You can upgrade on your own, but I would HIGHLY recommend placing a work order so that a District Tech can come out and re-image you.  The current district image is OS Mavericks.  This process will take about 20-30 minutes.  MAKE SURE you save any files that might be in “documents” or the “desktop” or you WILL lose them.  Also, make note of anything you might have to re-download and install.  Please do this PRIOR to the Tech coming to see you, or they will need to leave and return at a later time.

IMPORTANT #2- When adding files, if you see a “red x” on the icon at the top of your desktop, there are issues with either the file name (contains a # or some other symbol that it doesn’t like) or the extension (something not native to Apple).  The ones with the file name issue MUST be resolved before you can access the file in OneDrive.  You can click on the magnifying glass, and it will take you straight to the file where there is an issue.  I would not change any file extensions!  I would only click on the file names and remove the symbols.

Please place a work order and then see Jeff or Kyla if you have any questions.

Thanks and have a great evening,

Your IMS Team

Subject: Mac - One Drive for Business

Hi,

Below is a link to the Preview/Beta version of Mac - One Drive for Business. Per Tony Hawkland it’s to share with the anyone and as with any preview/beta software it is o.k. to use but, the user assumes the risk and Ed Tech does not support it at the moment. I have been using since Monday and haven’t had any issues…
